Education programming throughout the year:

In a climate of sparse and declining government support for arts education, the Asheville Art Museum remains committed to providing exceptional arts-based learning opportunities for students and teachers at all grade levels and in all disciplines. In recent years the Asheville Art Museum has demonstrated excellence as a leader in this area, receiving regional and national recognition for its programs.

The Museum's highly acclaimed in-house and outreach education programs include Studio, Math and Literacy tours keyed to North Carolina's Basic Education Plan and curriculum objectives. The Museum developed the Literacy Through Art Rural Outreach Program (LTA) to specifically address the arts education needs of rural populations. The state arts council designated the LTA outreach program as a model for effective public/private educational partnerships.

Other programs include Saturday family workshops and summer and winter art camps. The Museum also provides a wide array of outstanding educational programs that enrich life for adults. Travel programs, independent films, concerts, gallery talks, lectures, volunteer and entertainment opportunities are developed with the Museum's many partners and engage people with one another and the community at large.

Call to discuss customizing a program for your class, school or civic group.
